While the idea to expand was always on the cards, the primary reason was as a result of the growing demand for self storage in Stroud. Our customers asked and we made a plan to purchase the property next door. Once renovations are complete, we will be able to offer an additional 200 internal storage units.
The property we obtained was an old mill which required careful handling of certain environmental challenges. We had to avoid making major alterations to try and keep the mill as close to the original state as possible. The plan involved using cladding on the outside to protect the original building. Now, if someone wants to, they can simply remove the cladding and the main building remains untouched.
What Will The New Facility Offer?
The storage units will be in the same format as the existing Stroud self storage facility as it’s essentially an extension of the existing site. Each unit will be individual and almost like having your own room to safely store your belongings in.
In addition to the internal units, we will also provide more external storage units with 24-hour access, ideal for tradespeople. This has been such a success at Stroud that we have also installed the security technology at our Bristol site which now also boasts 24-hour access.
All of the units will be on the ground floor so there are no stairs to navigate and drive-up access is always a plus. The smaller units are ideal for student storage, decluttering your home or just for keeping confidential documents safe and out of the way.
Capacity-wise, the Stroud self storage expansion site adds an additional 10,000 sq ft of internal units. There will be a number of different sizes with a similar look and feel to the original Stroud facility.
