Space Centre’s Lucinda Dangerfield Cycling for Charity

Space Centre News | 11.12.15

Space Centre Self Storage Co-Director Lucinda Dangerfield is taking on the London to Paris Bike Ride in July 2016 in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Cyclists of all abilities will be taking on the challenge of completing the 400km ride in just 3 days, cycling from central London to the Eiffel Tower.

Lucinda won’t be alone though. She is being joined on the ride by her brother Piers Marks who owns and runs Stroud based engineering company Northsound Ltd, as well as a host of other riders. Lucinda openly admits that this will be a huge challenge for them as neither of them currently do a huge amount of cycling. But they are determined to meet that challenge and raise funds for a great charity whose research has helped save the lives of thousands of people.

Lucinda and Piers will start their journey from central London on July 21st and cycle the 140km to Portsmouth where they will get a well earned rest on the ferry crossing to Caen. Day 2 sees them cycling another 140km through the towns and villages of France, going through Normandy and eventually ending up in Evraux for their overnight stop before the final push on to Paris. Their last day is a slightly shorter 120km (although I’m sure it won’t feel much shorter!) and will take them right into the centre of Paris finishing up at the Eiffel Tower.

Coronary heart disease is the UK’s biggest killer and every 3 minutes someone in the UK suffers a heart attack. 30% of these are fatal and they often strike without any warning. Research by the BHF helps save the lives of many people, people and their research into congenital heart conditions has helped many babies survive into adulthood.

There’s a little while to go before the event and we’ll keep you updated on Lucinda’s (and Piers) progress with their preparations.

If you’d like to support Lucinda and Piers and help them raise funds for the British Heart Foundation you can donate here.
